A Major Hockney Show Opens Downtown Today

David Hockney: Perspective Should Be Reversed opens today at the Tampa Museum of Art. It's 140 prints, collages, photographs, and iPad drawings covering sixty years of his work, and it runs through February 28.
Hockney passed away in June at 88 years old, and this is the first show of his work here since his passing.
You also don't have to pay full price to see it. On Thursdays, the museum lets you pay whatever you want. That runs from 4 to 8pm.
When: Opens today, runs through February 28
Hours: 10am to 8pm Thursday, 10am to 5pm the rest of the week
Where: Tampa Museum of Art, 120 W Gasparilla Plaza
Cost: $25, or $15 if you're 65 or older. Thursdays 4 to 8pm you pay what you want.
25 Bands Take Over Water Street Saturday, Free

Beats on the Street runs 3 to 9pm Saturday, from Water Street down to Sparkman Wharf. And it’s totally free. More than 25 bands play across the neighborhood.
It's built for wandering. Ten local artists paint live while the music goes. There's a silent disco. The restaurants and bars along both blocks stay open the whole time. Chromeo closes it out with a DJ set.
You can treat it as a concert or as a long dinner with a soundtrack. Either one works.
When: Saturday 9/26, 3 to 9pm
Where: Water Street and Sparkman Wharf, downtown
Cost: Free
Parking: Channelside Garage (369 S 12th St) or East Cumberland Garage (1045 E Cumberland Ave). Reserve a spot ahead on ParkMobile.
Or skip the garage: Park in Ybor and ride the free TECO Streetcar to Water Street Station, at Beneficial and Channelside. It runs until 2am.
Tip: The pop-up bars raise money for a local nonprofit that puts instruments in kids' hands.
Oktoberfest Fills Downtown Plant City Saturday

The fifth annual Oktoberfest takes over Historic Downtown Plant City on Saturday, 3 to 10pm. And it’s also free!
There's a biergarten and a band playing Bavarian music. Dancers work the crowd. The stein contest is more fun to watch than to enter. Axe throwing too, and the kids get their own zone.
You'll want to go hungry. It's an easy drive east on I-4. Park once and you can walk the whole thing.
When: Saturday 9/26, 3 to 10pm
Where: Historic Downtown Plant City, 100 N Collins St
Cost: Free to walk in. Food, beer and games are pay as you go.
